Lewis Foster

April 20, 1945~August 14, 2020

Foster, Lewis
a long-time resident of Lake County, Florida died unexpectantly on August 14, 2020 in New Port Richey, FL. Lew was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 20, 1945 to Sam and Ida Foster. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1970 with a Bachelor’s in Pharmaceutical Science. He worked as a pharmacist for 50 years. He achieved his lifelong dream of owning a business when he became the sole proprietor of Bouleware’s Drug Store in Tavares, Florida in 1983.
Lewis Foster is survived by his loving wife: Donna Foster; his three beautiful children: Shawn Foster and his wife Teresa, Shelly DeCesare and her wife Monique, and Andrea Hyatt and her husband Evan; his brother: Jerrold Foster; and five amazing grandchildren: Christian, Andrew, Kaylee, Elise, and Olivia.
On November 4, 1976 he married the love of his life, Donna Cashman. He always said his greatest gift/love/accomplishment was his three children: Shawn, Shelly, and Andrea.
Lew was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa/pop-pop. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family and friends. He is best known for his ability to actively listen and be there for anyone that needed and starting unwanted house projects. His love for the Florida Gators was deep and true. He rarely missed a game and was a seasonal ticket holder for 35 years. He will be deeply missed by friends, family, and all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23rd at 1pm at the Columbian Event Center where family will be in attendance. Due to the current circumstances of the pandemic, they are offering the option of a Facebook Live event as well as the ability to form a processional car line to safely leave your condolences immediately following the service (approximately 2pm).
The family has had an overwhelming response from so many people that want to do something to help during this difficult time. After having a family discussion, it was decided that the best option would be to create a GoFundMe account to collect donations to help pay for the Celebration of Life. The link is: https://gf.me/u/yrv6q4. If the funds collected exceed the amount needed to cover the event, the remainder of the funds will be donated to local families affected by COVID-19 that are struggling financially.

I will try Miss Uncle Lew!! he was always there if you ever need anything I will miss his bear hugs! My favorite memory of uncle Lew is of him scaring me to death when I was housesitting while he was out of town. He was accidentally turning on and off the lights of the house with his phone. I will definitely miss him! I love you uncle Lew!! ❤️

There are never any words to fully express the deepest sadness one can ever feel from the loss of a loved one. My heart is very heavy with the sadness I feel. All the memories I have of such a great man, husband, father and grandfather will be my most treasured of them all. Praying for you all at this time and always. With my deepest sympathies, Love Dory

To Donna, Shawn, Shelly, and my dearest friend – Andrea: You have not left my thoughts and prayers. I want to publicly acknowledge Lew for his perfection of sarcasm. He truly made it an art! And for his love and kindness toward my family as a whole. I remember playing hide and seek at Bouleware’s with Andrea and pretending we were bartenders behind his bar at home with the cool vintage lamps (even if they had UF logos on them). 😬 I remember when my dad passed away, I left the memorial service to go to the restroom and Andrea followed. “Our Moms wanted me to check on you. Want to just hang out in here for the rest of the service?” Andrea always knew what I needed even before I did. I wish I could repay the favor in some way, but COVID-19 sucks in every way, shape, and form. I love you all and will be streaming live and sending you the biggest virtual hugs and I hope you feel it!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
