With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Lillie, our loving and devoted mother, granny, sister, and friend to all whose lives she touched, November 10, 2021. Although we may be sad, we can find comfort knowing she is in a better place. She was in her 80th year. She was born March 13, 1941, in Jasper County, a daughter of the late Mildred and Herbert Dukes Sr.
After Lillie graduated high school, she decided to work for one of the largest and striving automobile manufacturers in the Country. In this industry, she left her mark as an extremely, successful machine operator. As a dedicated mother of two, she took advantage of the opportunity to build wealth. She was eager to provide a solid and stable home suitable for her family. Lillie was a very hard worker who dedicated her time and skill to her craft until she retired after 35 years of labor at General Motors.
Lillie was great at many things, but her role as a loving mother and grandma was by far her most profound accomplishment. She took time out of her busy schedule to actively participate in all of her grandkids’ lives in any way possible. She showed up for many graduations, weddings, games, events etc. She was like a second mom. Lillie loved to travel, so she would round up the grandkids for a road trip a few times a year. She had so much love to share and that love she did spread with everyone; especially her grandkids.
Mrs. Lillie Grace was predeceased by her father, Herbert Duke Sr., mother, Mildred Dukes, brother, Jerry Dukes, Willie Marl, Patterson and grandson Antwoine Taylor, Survivors include her daughter, Alonda Taylor and her son Dewayne Pruitt Sr., siblings, Doris Evans, Anne Richardson, Debbie Filer, Ardie Dukes, Rickey L.
