Maria Agapiadis

February 10, 1935~April 11, 2023
Our beloved Mother and wife Maria Agapiadis passed peacefully on Tuesday 4-11-2023.
She is survived by her husband George, daughters Penny and Francine, son Anestis, grandchildren Sophia and Jose Silva, Nicholas Georgeokitsios and Aglaia, great-grandchildren Isabella, George, Lucas and Nicholas, sisters Helen Tolidis, Margaret Kraniotakis, and brother Anastasios Christakis.
Born in 1935 in the beautiful mountain village of Anatoliki Krapsi, located east of Ioannina, prefecture of Ipeirus, in Greece.
She was a true Ipeirotissa at heart. In 1966 with her husband George and family she immigrated to the USA. She and George became a long time residents of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and in the early 70’s proudly became US citizens.
In 1970 Maria and George along with her sister Helen Tolidis established the first George’s Pizza House in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
There they raised their children and became members of Cape Cods proud Greek Community. Soon afterwards they also established George’s Pizza in Falmouth and Provincetown. In 1995 Maria and George took early retirement in Athens, Greece visiting often Ioannina and Anatoliki Krapsi. After 2017 they came to reside in Holiday, Florida where their three children reside.
Maria’s love for her family, relatives, friends and neighbors was unconditional, always there for everyone. Her life was her family. Her passion was having gatherings of family and friends always with a smile and always being the perfect hostess, while loving her Greek heritage of faith, cooking, music, and dancing,
not to mention her favorite pastime of enjoying a cup of Greek coffee with her beloved late cousin Eftalia Avgerinos.
Maria is already sorely missed and has a place in our hearts forever and ever.
Her final resting place will be in her beloved village of Anatoliki Krapsi in Greece as she requested.
May her spirit rest in peace.
In remembrance of Maria’s life, her family would respectfully ask that those wishing to do so, offer contributions in her name to  any Alzheimer’s  Association of their choice to help defeat this dreadful disease.
