Tsakalakis, Maria, passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018. She was born in Vourvoura, Greece on September 8, 1925. Daughter of Vasileos and Evrediki. After the war she traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina to meet up with her long time friend and sweetheart Panagiotis born in the same hometown. They married in Buenos Aires on March 11, 1953. They had a daughter, Ana. They moved to Silver Spring, Maryland in 1968 to meet up with her mother and brother Spiro and his family. She was a member of the Vourvoura Society of Washington DC. She attended Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Washington DC. She worked as a seamstress for Raleigh’s in Washington DC. In 2001 Maria and her husband moved to Tarpon Springs, Fl. to be with their grandchildren. Maria was a loving mother and Yiayia. She was a great cook and home maker, she loved to crochet, embroider and she loved planting flower and all kinds of vegetables. Maria is survived by her daughter Ana Patsalides, her husband Harry, and his sister Helen, grand daughter Panayiota Santhouse ( Matt), grandson Constantine Patsalides and great grandson Michael. Sister in law Toula Chakalos, nieces Vicki Grafas (Demetrios), Dina Brady (Matt) and a nephew Vasili Chakalos (Tracy) and many grand nephews. Her cousins Dr. Mary Galinski and Soula Demou of Chicago.
Memorials May be made in her memory to St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral.
