Marie Thomas,77, passed away January 26th, 2023 surrounded by family.

Marie grew up in Stonington, Connecticut. She attended Stonington Public School, graduating from Stonington High School in 1964. She was a bartender at several local bars in Westerly and worked as a cook at Stonington Institution before moving to Florida with her daughter and grandsons in 2002.

She is survived by son Richard Thomas Jr.; daughter Serena Thompson (Kevin); grandsons Shane Thomas, Brandon James, Richard Thomas III and Edwin James; as well as seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeased by her parents Winfred Startz and Margaret Startz and her brother Winfred Startz.

Celebration of life in Florida and Connecticut will be announced at a later date.

The family would like to extend a very sincere thanks to Heather Hill Healthcare Center, especially the memory care unit for their dedication and love they gave to our mother/grandmother and all the residents that live there. Every and all staff through out the center was fabulous.
