Mrs. Staffenbeal was a most extraordinary teacher at Douglas Elementary in Des Moines. Our 3 children were most fortunate to be under her guidance during their time in her classroom. She even trusted our eldest in 5th grade at the time, to please keep reading the assigned book in front of the class while she stepped out a moment.

We will never forget her tales of travel, where she was going next, and even on a conference night, we were the last family to see her, and she was headed to the airport right afterwards. She quickly said” I don’t really need to see you, your daughter is a pleasure to have in class, and just keep doing what we were doing!

A true gem in the educational field, she will be so missed.
