It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Pero-Attardo on February 12, 2025, after a brave battle with pelvic cancer. Marlene’s strength, cheerfulness, and unwavering loyalty inspired all who knew her.
Born on February 2, 1942, in Rochester, New York, Marlene spent her childhood surrounded by the adoration of many family members and friends. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Robert Attardo Sr., with whom she shared 45 incredibly blessed years of love and partnership. They had two beloved children, Robert (Marlene) Attardo Jr. and Lisa (John) Keeling. Cherished grandchildren Nicholas (Grace) Attardo and Zachary (Sydney) Attardo, step-grandchildren Andie and Kenzie Keeling, and step-great-granddaughter Rayna Keeling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Betina (Betty) Pero, and her husband, Robert Attardo Sr.
Marlene’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and her grandchildren were the center of her universe. She treasured every moment spent with them and lit up when speaking about them, which was every chance she got.
Marlene loved the comforts of home and was extremely domestic. She loved to cook and was a talented seamstress. She crafted countless garments for her family and friends, from everyday clothes to special occasion dresses. She leaves behind many sentimental, custom cross-stitches for her family members.
Marlene’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven from love, enthusiasm, and resilience. Her devout faith, infectious positivity, and the ability to cheer all those around her leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten by those who spent time with her in New York, and then later in life, in Tarpon Springs, Florida, which she relocated to in 2012.
An avid dog lover, her dogs were treated as well as her children—which is to say, ardently. She leaves behind Zuzu Marie, who will be completely doted on and loved, especially in her honor.
A Roman Catholic mass and immediate-family gathering will be held to celebrate Marlene’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research, supporting their mission to provide comfort and care to families with children battling cancer.
Marlene’s love will live on forever in the hearts of all those who knew and cherished her.

So blessed to have known such a beautiful, loving soul. Her Joy and big heart was the first thing you felt in her presence. And her beautiful purple hair lit up the room. We will so miss you Mar Mar but we will find peace in knowing you are now with your love Bob. So much love and strength to the Attardo Family. Always❤️

Lisa, Bobby & families, I am deeply sorry to hear about the passing of Mama Mar! She was an incredible lady with so much love to share. Both Bob & Mar passed on their kindness, good heart and spirit to their kids. My favorite memory would have to be the “string fence” that blocked off the dog from going into front living room on Kirklees in Pittsford. That room had perfect vacuum cleaner rows and I would remove my shoes and put foot prints on her OCD rug! Sending condolences to the family and healing hugs to my dear friend Lisa! I so wish I could be there to deliver that hug in person! Your strength and dedication to your Mom’s journey was selfless & honorable! I speak from experience, and know what you went through (although your dedication FAR exceeded mine). Both of your parents are smiling down on you and are so proud of the person you are!
Mama Mar, you were one in a million, and your love will carry on in your family, & your spirit will live on in all who knew and loved you! Fly high amongst the angels and shine down upon your loved ones forever!
