Thinking about Aunt Mary always brings a smile. Visiting her home was an uplifting event. She personified kindness, sincerity and hospitality and had a way of making you feel very special. I always tried to help her in the kitchen but she was all about doing for others so I often had to wash a dish or help clean up when she wasn’t looking. Her skill as a cook was showered on you like droplets of love. Her meatballs second to none. Aunt Mary was a good listener, conversations with her were to be treasured. One of our last visits to her home she let me help her make the lasagna, what a special memory. Our very last visit with her at the nursing home was also so very special, her focus was on her blessings, conversation centered around how good God was to her and how much she appreciated all the people in her life. We should all take a lesson from her about faith, hospitality, gratitude and kindness to others. Aunt Mary you are loved and will be missed, and never forgotten.
