It is with great sadness the family of Mary Evelyn Dooley Moon announces her passing at the age of 93, February 9, 2018 in Hudson, Florida. She was born in Chicago, Illinois, September 30, 1924 to Andrew and Evelyn (Plat) Dooley and was the oldest of three girls. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage, was a member of the Catholic Church and was a devoted wife and mother. She met and married the love of her life, United States Navy Chief Petty Officer, Omri A. Moon. With her husband and children she lived throughout the United States and over seas. Affectionately known as “Babe,” Mary Evelyn was a voracious reader and lifelong student. She proudly received her Associates degree from Pasco Hernando Community College. Mrs. Moon was preceded in death by her husband and her daughter, Dr. Marion Dorothy Bullock. She is survived by her loving sisters, Dorothy Rusch and Gerri Drahnak. Mary Evelyn; will be affectionately remembered by her children, Jay C. Moon (Mary Ann) and Donna Marie Abberger (Willie); her grandchildren, Jennifer Stanjeski, Ryan Moon, Laura Moon, Meredith Abberger, Jack Abberger; great grandchildren, Jake Stanjeski and Jay Stanjeski; and her devoted son in law, David Bullock. There will be no visitation service. Mary Evelyn will rest beside her beloved husband in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC. Special thanks are extended to Elizabeth and Steve Bullock and the staff of Bear Creek Nursing Home, Hudson, Florida for the kindness and comfort they provided Mrs. Moon.
