Born Mary Iris Rogers in Liverpool, England, Iris became a beautiful blushing war bride when she married Ronald Gordon MacPhee (1924-1998), a Canadian Merchant Marine officer in 1944 in Liverpool. They lived in Montreal, Canada, Sandusky, Ohio, and Saline, MI before they made their home in Hudson, Florida for many happy years.
In addition to Gordy, she is predeceased by brothers, Arthur and Stan Rogers as well as grandson Ryan MacPhee Betton.
Iris is survived by sons Rick of Spring Hill, Florida, Roger of Seattle, WA, great grandson Ian Betton of Martinsville, VA and husband Walter Sorokowski of Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Iris and Walt found love together after each lost their spouse. They married in 2000 in Hudson and enjoyed many wonderful years snowbirding to Walt’s Winnipeg home.
Iris granted a body donation to the Anatomical Board of FL. There will be no service.
For his final expression of his undying love, her husband passed along this verse:
I thought of you today
But that is nothing new
I thought of you yesterday
And I will tomorrow too
I think of you in silence
And make no outward show
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who love you know
Remembering you is easy
I do it every day
It’s the heartache of losing you
That will never go away.
Love Always, Walt
