Mary Kingsley

Mary Kingsley

July 26, 1935~February 23, 2024

Mary Magdalene (Hannock)  Kingsley passed away peacefully on Friday February 23 at Windsor Woods Care Center in Hudson, FL.  Born on July 26, 1935 in Ryan, PA, she lived for many years in Paterson, NJ before moving to New Port Richey, FL in 1984.  She worked for over 30 years at Kearfott Corp. in Little Falls, NJ assembling navigational guidance systems for strategic missiles and spacecraft.  Mary broke barriers- she was one of the first women to hold a position in the “clean room” at Kearfott assembling these specialized systems, a job previously held only by men. Mary was a lifelong and voracious reader who especially enjoyed biographies and historical books, although any publication was never off limits.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Kingsley.  She is survived by her brother Richard Hannock and his wife Dorothy Barrow, and her chosen nieces Karin Ajmani and Lauren Koniaris, for whom she will always be their treasured “Teta” (aunt). She is also survived by Bob, Anna and Andrew Ajmani and Peter, George and Evan Koniaris, as well as her dear friends Bob Mather and Norene Woodcox.

Visitation and funeral will be held at 12 pm on March 6th at Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home at 9944 Hudson Ave in Hudson, Fl.

I think it was back in 2007 that my relationship with Mary began. She was a caregiver for my Dad. Being legally blind and me living in Michigan, he/I needed someone who could come in a few times each week to cook (she was excellent!), do some light house work and just visit with him. Mary was a perfect match. She looked after him until he passed in 2009. What started out as a business agreement turned into a long-term friendship.

I would describe Mary as delightfully feisty, kind hearted, trustworthy, strong willed … having outstanding integrity and also the most beautiful nails! Throughout her lifetime, she has touched so many lives in so many ways…what a wonderful legacy Mary has left for all who knew her! Wishing each of you peace and healing as you mourn the loss of this wonderful woman.
