Born May 9, 1936 went with her Lord on August 30, 2021. Mary was born in Manhattan, NY and grew up in the Bronx. She married her husband Jack Sakser in 1957 and had 7 children. The Sakser’s moved to New Port Richey in 1970. Mary, known to those close to her as Irish Mary, was a member of the Spring Lake Ding-a-Lings. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Jack Sakser, her grandchildren Beth Anne Olsen, Patrick Stephen Sakser, Mathew David Olsen, and her son in law John McNabb. She is survived by her seven children, Mary Louise Braga (Michael), Barbara Vlahakis, Stephen Sakser, Thomas Sakser, Kevin Sakser (Denise), Kenneth Sakser (Chellie), and Jennifer Sakser (Leslie); her grandchildren, Brian, Jamie, Emily, Michael, Jason, Kelly, Molly, Jayne, Kayla, Stephanie, Austin, April, Felicia, CJ, Caitlin, and Jack; her great grandchildren, Bryson, Madison, EJ, Tommy, Kasey, Sydney, Connor, Ellie, Lia, Clyde, Ruby, Everett, London, Memphis, Jayden, Layla, Fallon, Cairo, Kosta, and Easton.
Mary was always full of life, outspoken and up for a great time. There was never a wedding that she didn’t belt out her famous “New York, New York”. In her later years, she spent her time attending any and all sporting events for her grandchildren, whom she lived for. There was never an event that she would miss, walker in tow and all. She became a “Grandma Mary” to many people. She has left us with a lifetime of memories, that we all we cherish forever. St Patrick’s Day was her favorite holiday, and the love for her Irish heritage will live on in all of us. Although she was the matriarch of the family, and we will all miss her so much, we find comfort that our parents are together again.
There will be a viewing for Mary on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 6:00-8:00pm at Dobies funeral home (8825 Old CR 54, New Port Richey, FL 34653) A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Peace with burial following at Meadowlawn Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the Gulf Harbors Civic Center, 4610 Floramar Terrace, New Port Richey.

God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come with me.”
Your golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us..He only takes the best.
Good night, sweet Lady, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.
I love you, Mary Sakser.

Dear Tom and Jen: Mary’s smile has left an ever present mark on my heart. You were both her comfort and joy, and that beamed from her soul. There is nothing like a mother’s love, and you were blessed with a gem, as she was blessed have you both at her side during the good times and the bad. I am thinking of you and your family at this sad time. May Mary’s memory be forever a blessing.

Our deepest condolence to the entire Sakser Family, Irish Mary was a wonderful lady and I will always have fond memories of her from our days at Albertsons and the times I ran into het after that. She always had a smile on her face and could light up any room she walked into, and we had many a good time on St Patty’s day at the store, and she always gave me a loaf of her Famous Soda Bread !!! God Bless You Mary And May You Rest In Peace, you will be missed by everyone who knew you !!!
Sincerely
Shawn, Mary & Penelope O’Connell
