Maven Addington

November 14, 1940~April 04, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Papa, Maven Addington, who departed this world on April 4, 2025 at the age of 84.
All family and friends are invited to join us to pay tribute to Maven’s remarkable life. A memorial service will be held from Saturday, April 12th from 10a-12p, at Dobies Funeral Home (8825 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey, Florida). Following the service, we invite you to join the family for food and drinks at Papa’s house (1734 Carrollton Place Odessa, FL).
Maven was born on November 14, 1940, in Nickelsville, Virginia, to Lester and Clarene Addington. Raised off the quiet stretch of Valley Creek, he grew up rooted in the values of hard work and devotion to family. After his father passed away when Maven was still young, his mother welcomed many foster children over the years, and Maven grew up alongside a large, ever-changing circle of siblings. He graduated from Midway High School and went on to marry Imogene, in their home state of Virginia.
In 1959, Maven and Imogene moved to Florida to seek new opportunities and a place to grow their family. Over the years, Maven worked a variety of jobs, always committed and hardworking. In the 1970s, he found his true calling in the concrete industry, where he eventually took on a leadership role and managing operations. He was respected by all who worked with him—known not just for his knowledge and skill, but for the way he treated others with fairness and dignity.
Beyond his work ethic, Maven was known for his humor. Papa was funny—really funny. He had a dry wit, a sharp mind, and could land a joke so perfectly it would catch you off guard. Whether telling a story about his childhood in the hills of Virginia or playfully teasing those he loved, his sense of humor brought joy and comfort to many.
Those who knew Maven remember him as a man of few words but great wisdom, with a strong presence and an even stronger love for those around him. Whether it was sharing stories on the porch, working with his hands, or simply sitting in stillness with those he loved, he taught us the value of simple joys and the power of presence. He will be forever remembered for his ability to make everyone around him feel valued and loved.
Maven was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Clarene Addington; his former wife, Imogene Grass; his sister Eva Sherron; his son Allen Addington, and grandson Kevin Dennison.
He is survived by his sister Ila Beard, brother Roger Addington, foster-sisters Violet Bowen and Maxie Rhoton, foster-brothers Jim Dixon and Allen McCloud, daughters Lisa Dennison and Leslie Eddleman, nephews Gary Addington and Brad Addington, niece Robin Benninghoff, son-in-laws Albert Dennison and Patrick Eddleman, grandchildren Kayla Harrison, Bryan Harrison, Kasey Eddleman, Travis Addington, Tyler Addington, Danielle Leahy, Kyle Dennison, Sarah Greenberg, Katie Dennison, and Niko Tzoumas, great grand-children Faith Eddleman, Autumn Dennison, Marcus Harrison, Cora Harrison, Aubrey Johnson, June Dennison, and Lily Dennison, grand nieces Sherron Fontes, Taylor Benninghoff, and grandnephews Michael Fontes and Beckham Benninghoff.
He is also remembered fondly by a host of cousins, in-laws, and lifelong friends. Though we mourn his passing, we are grateful for the many years we had with him and the memories that will carry his legacy forward.
