July 18, 1949~April 24, 2023

Michael Dye, 73, died peacefully on Monday, April 24, 2023, in New Port Richey, FL, after a lengthy illness. The son of Jack and Laverne Dye, he graduated from Marietta High School, Ohio, in 1967. Kent State University awarded him a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources in June 1971. Michael met the love of his life, Joyce Monica Dickson, in college. They were four months away from celebrating 50 years of marriage.

Michael was a person who had never met a stranger. He managed personnel for companies and agencies all over the country. In addition to Cleveland, OH, they called Tampa, FL, Los Angeles, CA, Panama City, FL, Huntsville, AL Parkersburg, WV and New Port Richey, FL home. While at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel, he was Employment Manager, then moved to Vice President of the Los Angeles Schools Credit Union and LA Teachers Credit Union.

He served the US Census Bureau and the Federal Emergency Management Administration. Michael led a team that hired 3,000 people within ten days to assist after a hurricane hit Puerto Rico. The President of the US recognized his leadership with a commendation.

It is no secret that Michael has always had a deep love for animals, and because of this, he has adopted dogs from shelters and volunteered at the Humane Society. And he was sure to join the Elks Club in all communities he called home.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Monica Dye, and brother Steven A. Dye (Karen Dye). His parents and brother, Jeffery Dye, born in Marietta, Ohio, preceded him in death.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 16, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Gulf Harbors Beach Club, FL. His ashes will be buried at Oak Grove Cemetery with his family in his beloved hometown.

Indeed, it was a quite honorable obituary to read. We are neighbors from Michael’s Parkersburg, WV home. I didn’t know about many of his life accomplishments. He and Joyce are, and always will be, wonderful neighbors and good friends. May Joyce be granted peace now and in the future.

Mike Dye Family
My family friendship and history goes way back to Our mother Virginia Cooper Huck graduating from Marietta High School with Mikes parents Jack and Laverne in 1947.
As we were growing up they would
Visit and have family get togethers in their homes as we were growing up
Mike and I had a lot of laughs together he was really good at being an entertainer and making you laugh
I’m so sorry to hear he had been I’ll for a long time. I’m sure his parents were proud of all his accomplishments in his working career
His personality was definitely a match with his working career for compassion and managing large disasters
I’m sorry I never got to meet you Joyce when you were in Parkersburg
WV
I had my last visit with Mike when you were living in Parkersburg
My deepest sympathy
