Michael Firilas, 88, of Land O’Lakes Florida and formerly of Reading, PA passed away on June 28. He was the devoted husband of Kula (Malavasis) Firilas for 61 years. He was born on the island of Cyprus, then a British colony, in 1931. He arrived in the US and served two years in the US Navy. He resided in Quakertown (PA) and moved to Reading in 1962 and began to build one of the larger painting contractors in the city of Reading. He was very active in the Greek Orthodox Church and became an Archon. Those in Reading knew what a major force he was at Sts. Constantine and Helen, and he became so at St. Stefanos in St. Petersburg FL. He was also a Past Supreme governor of the Order of AHEPA and a Mason. He is survived by his wife, Kula, a daughter Mary and her husband Spiro Patton, a son Dr. Anthony Firilas in Charleston SC, his wife Kim, daughter Keira and son Michael. Funeral arrangements are private and will be held Thursday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in New Port Richey, FL., with internment at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL. Contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers to either St. George, 9426 Little Rd., New Port Richey, FL 34654, or to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church , 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd., Reading, PA 19611.

I'm really sad about this and I cannot imagine how my grandad will feel..We recently lost our grandmother, his wife and now his beloved brother.I know no word holds enough power to ease your hearts pain..

To Kula and family, Mikes memory will be eternal. We are so great full for his friendship. We both loved working with Mike on many festivals and learning from him.
