Mitchell B. Kanyuh Jr., 97, of Hudson, Florida passed away on May 15th, 2022. Beloved husband to the late Delores Kanyuh. Loving friend of Libby Fuller. Loving father of Denise (Dana Boudreau) Kanyuh, Lisa Ann (Steve Hagen) Kanyuh, Mary Kanyuh. Beloved grandpa of Bethany (Brian) Magnani, Peter Linvik, Dustin (Wilma Metcalf) Boudreau, and Melissa Boudreau. Beloved step-grandpa to Nichole (Brian) Sullivan, Amy (Matt) Curler, and Katie Hagen. Great-grandpa to six great-grandchildren. Loving step-brother to Fred Fett.
Preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Clara (nee Kraemer); step-mother Theresa Kanyuh (nee Fett); sister Virginia Sedlacek; brothers Francis and William (Tiny).
Mitchell served in World War II as an Automotive Mechanic in the 65th Signal Battalion. He participated in the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns and was awarded the Good Conduct, American Theater Service, and European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medals. In 2001 Mitchell received a Liberty Certificate of Appreciation from the French government.
Mitchell dedicated his life to community service through many organizations including the VFW Cudahy Post 2895, American Legion, Kiwanis, Loyal Order of Moose, and Knights of Columbus.
Memorials to the VFW are appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home – Hudson Chapel (9944 Hudson Ave, Hudson, FL 34669). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 15th, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the same location. Burial at 2:00 pm at the Florida National Cemetery.
