Patricia Ann Stokes (Rosemond) (80) was born January 18, 1941 in Greenville, South Carolina. She was the youngest daughter of the late Andrew Rosemond Sr and Annabelle Rosemond (Burnette). On March 26, 1966 Patricia was married to Charlie Stokes Jr of West Haven by the late Bishop Ivory Holden.
Patricia Stokes graduated from James Hillhouse High School of New Haven CT and began her long career with Yale University in the university library. Patricia Stokes also worked for the NAACP and the UNCF for some years and returned to Yale University in the Department of Labor Relations where she happily planned weekly parties for the Student’s Union. Patricia retired from Yale University in 1995 after 35 years of service as an Employee Benefit and Scholarship Representative. Patricia picked up on her husband’s entrepreneur spirit and because of her love of Plant life and Antiques owned and operated a landscaping business and antique store. In 2008 Patricia Stokes published her first novel Marcus: The Secret Place, there are other written works that remained unfinished and unpublished.
Patricia was known as Mema leaves behind two beloved daughters one by birth Kimberly Stokes-Holder (54) of Florida and her late sister Faye Lumpkin’s child Shawne Lumpkin (57) of New Haven who she raised as her own after her sister’s untimely passing. Patricia Stokes has two grandchildren Donald Charles James (34) (Shaun Thomas), Kymberly Christina James (31) (Todd Rogers) and one step-grandson Tevin Holder (28) (Melvis). She leaves behind nine great-children (Alex, Jesse, Ja’lyn, Tristyn, Daniel, Maleah, Harlee, Masen and Talan). Patricia is pre-deceased by her sister’s Mable Rosemond and Faye Lumpkin, her brother Andrew Rosemond Jr. and survived by her youngest sibling and brother Claude Wesley Rosemond of the Philippines.
Patricia enter into eternal rest on February 23, 2021 at 9:30pm at home in New Port Richey, Florida surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her beloved son-in-law Ruben E. Holder Jr. (Kim). She will be missed.
