Paul Douglas Williamson

September 23, 1942~March 19, 2022

Paul Douglas Williamson was born on September 23,1942 in St. Albans West Virginia. He was
the only child of Noah James and Ida Long Williamson. He loved football and played for St.
Albans Senior High School. He graduated from St. Albans High in 1960.
His dad worked for Dupont in Charleston WV until his death in 1975; his mom never worked,
but she was very involved in their church, Randolph St. Baptist Church leading VBS, and
teaching Sunday school. This is where Paul’s love for the Lord and strong Christian heritage
began.

After high school, Paul attended West Virginia State Univ. and began majoring in Technical
Science and Engineering. He graduated with his AA.degree in 1962. It was here that he realized
his call from God was in education, so he enrolled in Tennessee Temple University in
Chattanooga TN. He received his B.A in Sacred Music in 1968.
1968 was a beautiful year, because that was the year he met the love of his life – Joyce Duman.
Joyce was the operator at Tennessee Temple University during her college days, and Paul’s
uncle, Bill Long, was the chief of security at the college. Uncle Bill is credited for getting Paul
and Joyce together. Paul worked at Sealtest ice cream, and one day Bill Long told Joyce
“why don’t you call and ask for 60 gallons of Ice Cream from Sealtest and talk to Paul
Williamson.” That began the relationship that led to their wedding on October 12,1968. They
were married for 53 years.

Paul and Joyce had two children- their daughter Debbie was born on August 21, 1969, and
Matthew on April 29, 1980.
Over the next few years, Paul and Joyce began their careers working and serving together.
Paul was a teacher and/or Principal/Headmaster at Great Hope Christian school in
Chesapeake VA, Landmark Christian school in Richmond VA, and Southview Christian School
in Statesville NC.

Paul returned to Tennessee Temple University in 1976 to obtain his MRE in Administration.
After graduating, he continued his career at Danville Christian School, Danville VA, Cedar Grove
Christian Academy, Philadelphia PA, Vandalia Christian School, Greensboro NC, Panama City
Christian School, Panama City FL, A. Crawford Mosley High School Panama City FL, Temple
Heights Christian School, Tampa FL, Franklin Middle School, Tampa FL, and Trinity College of
FL, Trinity FL.

Paul loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served him faithfully. Through the deep valleys
and high mountains of his 79 years, his love for Jesus never wavered. He truly loved God and
loved people. He knew how to forgive quickly and give grace easily. His students were his joy
and why he always pressed on. He was able to touch the lives of thousands -friends, faculty,
staff, parents and students from all over the country. Paul loved his 2 children with a passion,
and always took so much pride in his 4 grandsons – Micah, Jacob, Aaron and Levi. Paul was
always making people laugh with his dry humor and always saw the humor of everything. He
loved and talked about memories with family and friends up until days before he passed. He
loved his “Joycee” with all of his heart.

Paul is survived by his wife Joyce Williamson of 53 years, Tarpon Springs FL,

Joyce, Debbie, and Matthew,
We were privileged to work with Paul so many years ago when Debbie was four. It was our first year teaching after he and Joyce recruitrd us from Tennessee Temple. It was a great learning experience. We also enjoyed singing with them in Southside Baptist Church. Great memories. Love you all.
