Paul Nektaredes
Paul passed away on June 1, 2021. He was 94 at his
passing, born on June 22, 1926.
Paul was one of two sons of Costas and Anastasia
Nektaredes, Greek immigrants from Turkey. His parents
passed through Ellis Island in 1922.
Paul was born in Connecticut and also lived in NY City,
Greenlawn Long Island, Manhattan Beach California and
Tarpon Springs Florida.
Paul served in the U.S. military. He was proud of the Country
in which he lived and proud of his heritage.
Paul was educated in New York City and graduated with a
physics degree. He work in the electronic business for many
years then finished up as a Real Estate Broker in Tarpon
Springs. He seemed to enjoy personal contact with people
rather than the solitary science based work.
Paul was an avid handball player in his younger years. He
played in tournaments and was known for accuracy of the
game. Paul will also be remembered for his zest for poker and
his motorcycles. Driving his motorcycle cross country from
Florida to Las Vegas, Nevada. He travelled this route many
times with friends throughout the years. Later in life, he
settled for the car drive to Hard Rock Casino in Tampa from
Tarpon Springs to play poker. It was always about winning the
“high hand” which he did on several occasions.
Paul was free spirited and down to earth. A wholistic
naturalist and vegetarian all his life. He enjoyed the outdoors,
traveling cross country in a convertible Ford Fairlane or on the
back of a motorcycle, sleeping under the stars the entire trip.
Paul loved his coffee and his Tavla/Backgammon later in life.
He enjoyed spending time with his Tarpon Springs friends at
the coffee shops and local gathering spots in Tarpon Springs.
Surviving are his son, Philip Paul Vozza, of Palm Harbor, Fl.
and daughter Cynthia Marian Klein, of Homosassa, Fl. Grandchildren
Sean Philip Vozza, of Tallahassee, Fl, Devin Danielle Vozza,
of Gainesville, Fl and of course all of the beloved family
members and friends who were part of his life.
A “Celebration of Life” gathering has been planned at Fred Howard Park (Tarpon
Springs), shelter #6, on July 6, 2021 from 5 PM to 8 PM. We will gather to pay our
respects, say our goodbyes and share happy memories of Paul. Light food and
refreshments will be available. Dress casual. No special requests, but if you like, small
flowers or cards are welcome, not necessary. For additional information please call

Dear Phil and Cindy,
My heart goes out to you for the loss of your father. He loved you both and you were very good to him. I know he was very proud of you. I enjoyed being all together at Thanksgiving and in Tarpon Springs during our recent visits. Much love – Arlene

My childhood memories of Paul go back to when I was 5 years old and visiting with Thea Anna and Pop in Florida. Paul would traditionally stop by to play ball with me on the drive way, leading all the way to adult mavrodaphní Greek Easter traditions with him. Paul will be truly missed.
Lots of Love to all

What wonderful memories I have of Paul. Although I met Paul in his later years, he left a great impression with me. Paul was a like a second father. I will miss him dearly. He gave me the secret to his perfect pie crust and introduced and me to the hottest pepper sauce I’ve ever had! I’ll miss our Sunday pancake breakfast and drives to the VA with lunch afterwards. He will always be in my memories, wearing his signature fedora. My deepest sorrow to Phil, sister Cindy, and family. I’m positive Paul has found the ultimate casino somewhere which will keep him busy trying to win that “high hand”.

Paul had signed my Guest Book on May 11, 1977. We played chess on that day and he won the first game. Through out the years we had many lengthy discussions and arguments. I will miss those days. My deepest sympathies go out his daughter Cindy and his son Phil.

When Paul came to Vegas the lights were brighter. Paul and I were Best Friends. We shared many laughs and good times playing poker, eating, riding our bikes, people watching, goofing around, and arguing. I miss him sorely! Please accept my deepest sympathy to his Family and Friends in Florida.
