“If you shake it more than twice, that means you're playing with it.” -Peter LaFountain
My heart yearns for you to remain here in physical-form, but what would that do? It would prolong your suffering. You were in pain, and you would live that way if you did get “better.” Now you are free from pain, Uncle Pete. You can soar with the universe, and find all the secrets before any one of us. The most comforting thing is knowing that you knew the Lord, and took his commandments seriously… Ok — that is said with 100% seriousness, but doesn't make it any less satirical.
Every time I listen to a George Strait song, I will remember how much you loved to play guitar. Every time I wash my car at the carwash, I will remember that you could do a better job — Not because you would just say that, but because it is the truth. I witnessed it with my own eyes.
Now you're than everyone. Only the grace of the good Lord could have gotten you into Heaven. And only the love of Jesus could keep you there. I'm confident that you knew that love, attempted to live it everyday… well for you… sometimes…maybe every other day — but the important thing is that you did. That is what the grace of God does.
“We are all sinners. Some of us just have more fun sinning.”
“Even the heathens get spiritual cleanings.”
I have to say that you put up quite a good fight. When life hands you lemons, you always made lemonade out of it… even if you weren't always using your own lemons.
Ride on, Uncle Pete. I'll see you around.
