Raymond W. Nelson (Ray) passed away June 14th, 2025 surrounded by his wife, daughter, sister, and brother in law. Raymond was born in Chicago on August 18th 1949 to the late Raymond F. and Florence (Przybysz) Nelson. Beloved son in law to Donald R. and Bernadine (Przybyla) Nordengreen.
Devoted husband of 38 years to Bernadette (Bernie) Nelson. Treasured father of Kassandra (Kassie) Nelson and son in law Matthew Passmore. Cherished grandfather of Adalynn (Addie) Mars Passmore. Loving brother to Carol Nelson, Janice (Richard) Sarnowski. Adored uncle to Jennifer Harter, Craig Sarnowski, as well as Andrea and Mallory Nordengreen.
Ray was a proud veteran who served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S Saratoga.
He worked hard to provide for his family, both physically and emotionally.
Ray was also an inherited father of Kassie’s friends, as he always welcomed them in as if they were his own.
He will always be known for his cheerfulness, as he always had a joke on the tip of his tongue, ready to make anyone laugh,
Ray was a huge animal lover who is survived by dog Gracie and cat Bo.
His wisdom, strength, and laughter will be severely missed.

Ray was a good man for the little time I’ve known the family I’m blessed to have met such a nice man he will be missed by many. He always had a joke ready to come out at any time towards me lol. He was an awesome family man he will be missed dearly by many but not forgotten. Rest in peace Ray love ya Buddy.
