Richard Burton Davenport of Tarpon Springs Florida passed away peacefully on 28-Feb 2025 in the care of his family surrounded by loved ones. He was pre-ceded by his father Major Burton Davenport, his mother Ilee May Davenport and older brother Fredrick Norman Davenport. Richard is survived by his brothers Steven Montgomery Davenport, Gary Martin Davenport, Richard’s loving Wife Linda Jean Davenport, son Sean Christopher Davenport, daughter-in-law Melissa Ann Davenport, daughter Ilee Jean Fashempour, son-in-law Don Fashempour. He has 3 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and has touched many, many hearts along his life’s journey.

Richard was born in Port Townsend, Wa. He attended primary school in Port Townsend, WA., joined the Boy Scout and achieved Order of the Arrow before moving to England from 1957-1959, then back to the U.S. and graduating high school from Cheyenne Central high school “Indians” class of 1964. He started his love for the Military with JR. ROTC and then ROTC while in high school. Dad was enlisted from High School and was off to San Diego Ca. From there Dad shipped off to Vietnam in 1964 – 1968 as a Navy Corpsman inserted with the First Marine Corps Division and the Fourth Maine Corps Division.

Returning from Vietnam, Richard met my mother in Cody, Wy. in 1969 and married in January 1970. He worked in the oil field for a couple of years with his father-in-law Robert “Bob” Kelso before feeling the pull to return to his calling of being a Navy Corpsman. Dad re-enlisted and was in Quantico VA. He had a stint aboard CV-41 USS Midway. He was stationed in Camp LeJune NC. Before heading to Naval Station Sand Point from 1981-1987. Then off to Okinawa, Rota Spain, Guam and Pt. Hueneme with NMCB-3, his final attachment was with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves in Midwest City Oklahoma from 1989-1993 where he retired as an E7.

Post Military, dad completed his B.S. in MIS at MSU Billings. He moved to Cody, WY. Green River, WY. Casper, WY. and settled in Tarpon Springs FL. In every place he was always helping people with many different projects, needs or desires along the journey of life. His passion was Leatherwork, Woodworking, Gunsmithing, IT and Trains.

He will be missed dearly every day as the world has lost a great Patriot, Husband, Father and beloved mentor and friend to many.
