Richard Paul McLean

June 22, 1948~February 02, 2022

Richard Paul McLean, 73, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away on February 2, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie McLean; daughter, Karolina McLean Abbott; son, Sean (Brandie) McLean; granddaughter, Isabelle; brothers, David McLean, Edward McLean, and Paul McLean Jr.

Richard was born in Auburn NY and is the oldest of 4 brothers. His family moved to Rochester NY when he was young. He met his wife Marjorie at St Theodore’s Elementary School when he was in 2nd grade. They married in 1970 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. He was a great provider working at Eastman Kodak until retirement while he helped raise his two beautiful children. The yearly treks to the Adirondack mountains with his family were filled with horseshoes, campfires, strawberry daiquiris on the beach, laughter, and TONS of love which will always be cherished memories.

He and his wife moved to Florida in 2005 to be closer to their children. They met many wonderful friends along the way and enjoyed numerous cruises with both friends and family. His joy at moving to Florida was palpable and contagious because he finally could visit Mickey Mouse at Disney World whenever he wanted.

His humor, love, and generosity drew everyone to him. His zest for food always had him making some type of mess; from ketchup on his ear, to ice cream on his glasses, to crumbs of food surrounding him wherever he sat. He will be missed greatly by his wife, daughter, son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter who lovingly called him Papa. He was his family’s best friend.

Please join us at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 11 am on Thursday, February 17th located at 8320 Old County Rd 54, New Port Richey, FL 34653. The funeral will be live-streamed and can be found at the below link:

My dear friend, Marj … I have known you and Dick since 1963 when we all were students at Cardinal Mooney High School. Even though our times of separation were often, and long, when we were together it was like we had never been apart. Dick was my second husband’s cousin, so for a brief time, we were related. I will always remember Dick’s contagious smile and wacky sense of humor. He will always be my friend, and I will always be yours. Love you, my friend!

Sean and family, I’m very sorry for your loss. My condolences to you all. I’m sure I’m repeating what so many others have said, that your father was one of the nicest, happiest and friendliest people I have ever met. He had a way of making a person feel that he was truly interested in what they were saying. He was a welcoming kind of man and he made a difference where ever he went

Uncle Dick was my favorite uncle!! Always so funny and remember staying over your house on the weekends and of course the Adirondacks every year. He would always check for bears behind the lake cabin. He was always a riot at our Christmas parties too. I’m sure he’s with Walt Disney up in heaven having a blast. Rest In Peace uncle! ❤️

I remember everything spoke of him! He near always had that infectious smile that we all saw. I remember pool parties with every colorful accessory one could have. It was the Bahamas everyday!!!! His genuine excitement for most everything he touched and conquered, I have never seen again in my 50 years.
He lived life without apology and loved every minute with his family being his absolute HEART.
I know you are smiling still, “Mickey”!!!! And let the games begin! Every corner and every turn, you all won’t even wonder… you’ll just know he’s been stashing all the jokes and tricks away!
Wishing you love and strength in each other with this great loss.
