Robert C. Yost, of Hudson, Florida, peacefully passed on March 24, 2022, after a 2 year battle with prostate cancer. Robert was born on October 19, 1950, in Jackson Heights, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and A. Bernice Yost, as well as his first wife Laurie Davies Yost. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ellen, and will be missed by his children – daughter Rebecca Yost (Brandon Hollingshead); son Thomas (Christy); and daughter Jessica Bloom (Zach); as well as granddaughter Margot Hollingshead; and grandsons Rylan Bloom, Owen Bloom, and Henry Yost; sister Betty Jane Castagnola (Lou); as well as many nieces and nephews. Robert, a graduate of Gulf High School in 1968, enrolled in the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Celestial Navigation. He was commissioned in 1972 as an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve (USNR) on graduation and earned a United States Coast Guard License as 3rd Mate. He was honorably discharged from the USNR in 1983 as a Lt. JG. Robert worked for a major international grain exporter from 1972 to 1995 as a ship broker. He returned to Florida in 1995 to assist his dad after the no-name storm. He was employed in the auto industry for 8 years before becoming a Deputy Clerk with the Pasco County Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller before retiring in 2020. In the last few years, Robert and Mary Ellen, took to the high seas as their love of cruising is well known. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Dobies Funeral Home in Hudson, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday March 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at St James Apostle Catholic Church, with internment to follow at Grace Memorial Gardens.
