Robert [Bob] Floyd Carter went to be with the Lord and Savior on June 25th, 2024. Robert was 84 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Natalie Carter and brother, John Douglas Carter.
Robert was born in Monticello, Kentucky on June 9, 1940, to Hubert Marshall Carter and Natalie Holtegel Carter. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Mary Doris Morrow in November of 1959, they adventured to Florida for their honeymoon and started their life in Florida, eventually settling in the rural area of Odessa, Florida where they lived and raised a family for over 53 years.
Robert retired after 30 years working for Florida Power and Light. Robert was during his career; a master plumber, master mechanic, master welder, and in his last 10 years of working for Florida Power he was a Master Mechanic Supervisor.
Robert was a basketball enthusiast, playing on leagues well up into his 70’s being a 3-point shooting star. He was Assistant Coach to several teams at Citrus Park Christian School, including his grandson’s. He gardened a large family plot and shared the bounty of his efforts. He kept horses his whole life, never departing from the farm life he grew up in and loved. He loved and was proud of his ‘57 Chevy that he had restored to collectors’ status, winning many awards. He was a member of Keystone Motor Club.
Robert and his family were one of the founding members of Keystone Bible Church in Odessa, Florida where he continued to worship and fellowship until the end of his life. He had numerous friends in his life, in the end he had a very close friend that visited with him to “chew the fat” after a game of pool each day, Gene Heath.
Robert is survived by his wife Doris, daughters, Simone Carter Johnson [Lyder], Robin Carter Knecht [Bruce], 5 grandchildren; Lincoln Johnson, Cearra Johnson Rinaldi [Alexander], Ashley Knecht Lash [Ian], Amber Knecht Phelps [Jonathan], Alec Carter Knecht [Sheye], and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as his sister, Kathy Carter.
The family would like to the thank the church family of Keystone Bible Church for the faithful Christian friendships, including Pastor Tracy, Pastor Seth, Pastor Mike, “Doc” Steve and “Engineer” Bob and many others, too many to list. How blessed a man was Robert to have this church family.
His family would like to share that their husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was the cornerstone of the family. He set examples by how he lived a Christian life, never wavering in his faith and convictions, he made each member of his family feel special and loved. He will be missed so very much; but knowing that he is in heaven with our Lord and Savior waiting for the day when we will all join him, brings us great comfort.
Robert will be buried in Monticello Kentucky, on July 3, 2024, at Elk Spring Cemetery, with a grave side service at 10:30 A.M. with fellowship afterwards at Conley Bottom Resort.
