Robert W. Taylor, 85, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away January 3rd, 2022. He was Born on December 23rd, 1936 in Urbana, Ohio, to the late Witzel and Daisy (Copas) Taylor. He Worked for Borg Warner in Elyria, retiring after 42 years. He made his home and raised his family with his late wife Betty J. (Wilson) Taylor in Elyria before moving to Florida in 1996.
He enjoyed sprint car racing, especially dirt and spending time with family and friends. He was mostly known for being an amazing lead guitar player, starting from a very young age, playing with his dad, brothers and sister. He played with the Down Beats all over Ohio and was known for singing “Sweet Little Sixteen”.
He is survived by sons Rick Taylor of New Port Richey, Florida and Tim Taylor of New London, Ohio; daughters Kay (late Hank) Koepp of Elyria, Ohio and Debbie (Tim) Metz of Holiday, Florida; sister Marge Boyd of Elyria, Ohio.
Seven grandchildren Michael Trombetta, Christy Justi, Jennifer Schramm, Robert Metz, Alyssa Russ, Sammy Taylor and Dale Taylor.
twelve great grandchildren Brenden Schramm, Gianvanna Trombetta, Taylor Schramm, David Justi, Garrett Schramm, Hollie Metz, Olivia Schramm, Hunter Metz, Haley Justi, Lauren Russ, Caiden Russ, Bo Rasoi and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Betty J. Taylor; his parents Witzel and Daisy Taylor; brothers Carl, Raymond, Virgil, Marvin, Don and Dave Taylor; sisters Opal, Genova and Thelma Jean; son Dale Taylor; granddaughter Lauren Metz and great grandson Luke Russ.
There will be no service. Only a private family gathering.
