August 02, 1941~July 10, 2025

Roberta Carolyn (Salemino) D’Uva was born August 2, 1941, in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. Beloved daughter of Alexander and Genevieve (Caldara) Salemino.

Named after her maternal grandfather, Roberto Caldara, who emigrated to the United States from Italy, Roberta was the eldest sister to Sandra Salemino and the late Charles Salemino (d.2014).

Growing up in a musical family, she began playing accordion at the age of five and performed regularly at recitals and other events in New York. She loved to play, listen, and collect music from many genres across each generation. She began her clerical work at the age of 17 at Jim McGlone Motors, Inc. in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. This experience would contribute to a long career of bookkeeping and title work for many companies, including our family businesses. The first of which, Carousel Cards & Gifts, moving our family from Croton-on-Hudson, New York to New Port Richey, Florida in 1975. Roberta’s connection to her heritage and extended family was of the utmost importance, and as snowbirds, her family would travel back home to New York each summer.  She enjoyed cooking and sharing family recipes, catching up with friends and family, being outside in the Florida sunshine, watching classic movies with her husband, as well as going out dancing with her girlfriends. She beautifully balanced family life and her children’s various activities, all while tending to the needs of her work and business responsibilities.

She was a cancer survivor in remission for over 30 years. Her outlook was always positive in the face of these and other medical battles throughout her life, including bringing that love, care, and positivity to everyone she knew who faced similar challenges. She would express interest in others on all occasions, regularly volunteered at church, and always sent a card on friends’ and family’s birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays.

She passed away peacefully at 83 years old on July 10, 2025, in Port Richey, Florida. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Joseph James D’Uva, their children; Donna Ely (Scott Ely) of Hudson, Florida; Joseph D’Uva (Summer Zickefoose) of Canfield, Ohio; and Denise Smith (Mike Smith) of Port Richey, Florida; her grandchildren; Nicholas Ely of Akron, Ohio; Madison Ely, Paige Ely of Hudson, Florida; Felix D’Uva, Ellis D’Uva of Canfield, Ohio; and Macy Smith of Port Richey, Florida. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, brother, and two grandchildren, Alyssa Ely and Evan Smith.
