Roberta E. Wootten was a loving and godly wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away in New Port Richey, Florida, on June 17th, 2024 at age 89.
Roberta was born 1935 in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and lived in the rural community of New Salem, where her father was the postmaster and her mother was a teacher and principal. As a teenager, she gave her life to Christ at a Billy Graham crusade.
She received her associates degree at Barrington College in Providence, Rhode Island, where she met her future husband, David Wootten. They were married in June, 1955 and together they raised 3 adopted and 2 foster children in Massachusetts and New York.
Roberta loved caring for her family and she was very involved in church ministry, serving alongside David in pastoral work and later in real estate. She worked as a secretary and homemaker, as well as leader in teaching and children’s ministry at church. Together, they loved to travel, camping and working in their garden, growing flowers and vegetables. David and Roberta were married for 65 years until he went to be with the Lord in January 2021. After his passing, Roberta spent time living overseas in Lebanon with her daughter and family.
Roberta is survived by her daughters, Ellen (Dabbour) and Kathleen (Manus), their spouses, her daughter-in-law Shelley (Wootten), her grandchildren, and great-children.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am on July 13, 2024 at First Baptist Church of Elfers.
