Sarah Elizabeth ”Sally” Moreno, 89, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on March 14, 2022. Sally was born on January 4, 1933, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, as the second child to the late Kell and Viola (Stevens) Long II.
After living her childhood in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, the family moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, when she was a teenager and she graduated from St. Petersburg High School.
In 1953, Sally married Carl Moreno and they had five children. The dedication and love she displayed as a mother was unparalleled; her relationship with her family meant everything to her. Sally was an extremely kind, gentle, and peaceful person that loved her family.
Sally worked in the banking industry the majority of her career and had a strong work ethic that she instilled in her children. After retirement, NiNi, as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spent many hours loving and caring for them.
Sally had a passion for travel and had fond memories of trips to Europe, Alaska, and visiting her children throughout the United States. Sally was an avid Tampa Bay Lightning fan, keeping statistics and rarely missing a game.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Derek Wilson.
Sally is survived by her brother Kell (Lyn) Long III, Claxton, Georgia; her daughters Sharon (Wayne) Deschambeau, Tarpon Springs, Florida, Sandra Lucier, Wesley Chapel, Florida, Deborah (Joe) Granuzzo, Olathe, Kansas, Donna Swartsel, New Port Richey, Florida and son John D. (Joice) Moreno, Phillipines; grandchildren Sarah (Mel) Santiago, John D. (Rachel) Moreno II, Mary Brown, Nicole Russo, Hunter Swartsel, Forrest Swartsel, Fischer Swartsel; and 10 great-grandchildren. She will forever be in their hearts and missed very much every day.
Sally’s smile, spirit and zest for life will be forever remembered by her friends and family.
A Celebration of Sally’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, Dobies Funeral Home, 6616 Congress Street New Port Richey, Florida, with Chaplain Patrick McCurdy officiating.
