CHANDLER, Sharon G. age 84, of Tarpon Springs passed away July 11, 2024. Sharon was born November 09, 1939, in Pontiac, Michigan to Thomas and Ethel Smith. She graduated from Pontiac High School in 1957 and married her high school sweetheart, Charles Chandler. Charles was soon drafted into the Army stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Sharon went with her husband expecting their first child, Christy. In 1964 they experienced the Great Alaskan earthquake. In 1974 they left Auburn Hills, Michigan and moved to Tarpon Springs. They were owners of Pro Hardware in Pappas Plaza and then opened Tarpon Paint Center in Tarpon Springs, a respected business in the community for more than twenty-five years. Sharon was an oil and acrylic artist, a member of the Tarpon Springs Art Association and their historian for over forty years. She had a green thumb with plants growing everywhere. Sharon is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tarpon Springs and is together now with our Lord. She loved spending time with her grandson and her family was the love of her life. She is survived by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Chandler married for 64 years; two children, Christy (Kevin) Birge, Jeff (Vicki) Chandler; one grandson, Austin Birge; brother, Thomas Smith and four nieces and nephews. Preceded in death: sister, Wanda Sarles. Memorial service will be held at 1:30, Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Dobies Funeral Home, 701 E. Tarpon Avenue., Tarpon Springs, FL 34689

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my mother-in-law, Sharon. Her warmth and kindness touched my life as well. My thoughts and prayers are with our family during this time of grief.

It was a beautiful memorial service for a lovely, sweet lady. She is missed here on earth, but our comfort is in knowing she loved Jesus and is with Him now!
