Stephen James Fogarty, of New Port Richey, passed away on April 7th, at the age of 88. Steve was born in Newark, New Jersey, on October 9th, 1934. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in France and Germany from January 1954 – October 1957. He resided in Livingston, New Jersey, until his retirement from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department in 1987.
Steve was predeceased in death by his sister Mary (Marie) Cullen; and his granddaughter Keira Grace Lauzardo. He is survived by his wife Mary, of 63 years; two daughters Patricia Desmond (John) and Eileen Lauzardo (Michael); and four grandchildren Kyle Desmond, Nicholas Desmond, Ryan Lauzardo, and Sophia Lauzardo.
Steve played baseball and was an avid baseball fan since childhood, especially rooting for his beloved Yankees. Throughout his life, Steve enjoyed sailing and travelling with his wife, spent many hours enjoying wood carving, and was also very proud of his Irish heritage.
A visitation for Steve is planned for Monday, April 17th, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Dobies Funeral Home, 8825 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey. The funeral mass will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 18th, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 8320 Old County Road 54, New Port Richey. Following the mass, interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Keira Grace Foundation for Children’s Cancer at www.keiragracefoundation.org. The family of Steve would like to thank the hospice nurses and staff of Accent Care for their devoted care and compassion.

Steve was a great guy always had a nice smile and infectious laugh ,we had many trinkets around our house he made for the holidays May He Rest In Peace.
