Terry Lee Brinker

December 13, 1946~December 11, 2023
Terry Lee Brinker passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 in Hudson, Florida. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 13, 1946 to John R. Brinker and Dorothy A. (Figg) Brinker, both deceased. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann (Finchum) Brinker, with whom he was happily married to for 42 years, and his youngest brother, Danny Joe Brinker. He is survived by his son, Adam Lee Brinker, three grandchildren, Daniel (Stephanie) Brinker, Katherine Brinker and Amanda Brinker, four great grandchildren, brothers, Don (Barb) Brinker and Mike (Barb) Brinker, and his sister, Gloria Jean (Brinker) Uhls.
Terry enlisted in the United States Navy in his teens, and he, Carol and Adam traveled the world. They lived in places like Italy, Japan and Guam, to name a few, as well as several different states. After a combined 32 years, he retired as a U. S. Navy Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician having earned numerous awards and certifications while also continually furthering his education.
In addition to his extensive Navy career, Terry also maintained a career in law enforcement having been a Captain with the Plainfield, Indiana Police Department, as well as ultimately retiring as the Jail Commander with the Hendricks County (Indiana) Sheriff’s Department, having also had accomplished careers with both departments.
Terry was a highly intelligent and accomplished man with a quick wit and dry sense of humor. He was an avid sports fan, and took his politics very seriously. He had an extreme talent for music and loved playing all his many instruments and teaching himself to play new ones, and also enjoyed showcasing his singing abilities. He also enjoyed being a licensed HAM radio operator while dabbling with that hobby. He and Carol loved to travel, and did so often, taking RV trips, boating trips and road trips. It was nothing for Terry to pack a bag and tell Carol to get in the car, and off they would go to wherever their adventures would take them. While he loved his entire family, it was his time with Carol and Adam that brought him the most joy. He was proud of the fact that he was able to give them the world through travel.
Terry has been buried, in a private burial, with his loving wife at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. There will be a Celebration of Life held in Indiana in May of 2024 with full Military Honors, and those details will be made public once they are arranged.
