October 26, 1932~July 27, 2020

Green, Thomas Benjamin, 87, of Hudson, FL went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 27, 2020. He passed away peacefully with family by his side. Born in Asheville, North Carolina, and graduated in 1950 from Asheville High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving from 1950 to 1953. Known by some as a devoted husband, brother, bubba, father, pops, grandfather, pop pop, father in-law, brother in-law, and uncle, but was a friend to all that knew him.
Tom moved to Florida in 1965 while working for Henkels and McCoy. In 1969, he began working for GTE and retired after 24 years, as a Supervisor and Engineer. His hobbies included reading the newspaper and filling out the crossword puzzles every morning. An avid fan of all sports, though his favorite team was the University of North Carolina’s Tar Heels. Anyone that met him could tell you he was a great storyteller or always had a joke to tell you. Leading by example and selflessness were some of his greatest qualities, and he will truly be missed.
He is survived by a son, Thomas (Charlene) Green; daughter, Trina Gunter; daughter, Melodie (Robert) Keeley; son, Michael (Susan) Green; daughter, Becky McCay (Eric Hevel); son, Jeff (Lisa) Green; son, Dennis (Angela) Green; son Tim (Tammy) Green; step-daughter, Kandi Huff; brother, Donald (Mike) Green; and sister, Sarah (Sally) Yandle, 26 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wife, Anne Green; parents James and Louise B. Green; sisters, Miriam (Elizabeth) Gaines, Margaret Peake, Katherine (Kate) McMahon, Marjorie Foster; brothers, Robert Green, James (Jim) Green Jr., Stephen Green; daughter, Terry Johnson.
A private service will be held at Florida National Cemetery on August 14. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association. For further information, contact Melodie Keeley by email [email protected], or Facebook.
