Vincent M. Curto

June 18, 1939~January 03, 2022

Vincent M. Curto, 82, of Hudson, Florida passed away January 3rd, 2022. Vincent Curto was known as Vincent, but also Vince and Vinnie, by all those who loved him.  He loved dogs almost more than anything else in the world.  Most recently, Mandy and Missy, then Buster and his beloved Ginger.  He lived in NYC most of his life and then in Gainesville, FL.  He enjoyed walking his dogs and talking to the other dog “parents” he met.   He served for over 3 years in the United States Navy on the USS Midway, his bunk directly under the flight deck!   He worked at Fairchild Publishing for many years before retiring and enjoying life taking care of his dogs, being with mom, Lorraine, and the family, especially his grandchildren.  He also leaves behind his wonderful sister, Mary, her husband Dennis.  He also leaves behind his cousin, Kevin and his family. His humor and smile brightened many days. He will be missed.

We’re so sorry to hear of Vince’s passing. We were neighbors for many years in Thousand Oaks, & frequently chatted with him on the street while he was walking his dog(s). I too am a long-time transplant from NY. Our sympathies to the whole family.

Sweet Vince! I, too, am a Thousand Oaks neighbor and truly miss seeing him and Ginger on my walks. We always stopped and chatted and he was just so kind. I was sad to hear that his health issues had meant he couldn’t come back “home” and regret we couldn’t have said goodbye. I was especially sad to hear that he had died. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I will truly miss Vince as well as Ginger. We shared many stories and events at our back fence over the years. Knowing I loved to fish he would cut the fishing report out of the paper for me every Friday. A great neighbor and friend.

Vince will be missed in Thousand Oaks. He was very positive man and did not complain about anything. Ginger would make him stopped walking when she saw me. So he waited for me to reach them so Ginger could get a pat from me. I could see that he was showing signs of weakness in his walking. I’m a retried nurse. It was lovely to have conversation with him. I’m sorry I can’t make the service.

I’m so sorry to hear of Vince’s passing. I hadn’t seen him out walking about for a while. He will be missed by many in the neighborhood. We met while walking our dogs and he always had a dog treat in his pocket for the other dogs. So very nice of him. My deepest sympathies to his family.
Sincerely,
Susan

Vince was the first person I met when I moved in next door to him. I saw him almost daily and looked forward to seeing him. I wish I would have gotten to know him better but I kept thinking we’d get to it later. I miss chatting with him first thing in the morning.

I met Vince on the first day we moved to Thousand Oaks. I enjoyed many quick conversations with him (and Ginger) on my daily morning walks. I’ll miss waving to him as I walked by.

I am a neighbor of Vince in Thousand Oaks. I would see Vince a couple of times a week when my friend and I walked the neighborhood in the morning. He was such a sweet man. He always stopped and talked to us. Of course, he had Ginger with him. She was as gentle as he was. She got him up and going, especially more recently as he was getting weaker. He was also the one who always let us know when there was a change in the garbage pick up schedule. We will miss him. Rest in Peace, Vince. My condolences to his family.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of purchasing Vincent’s home in Gainesville and we hope to build many memories here in Thousand Oaks. While going through some of the furniture in the garage I came across a few hundred family photos that I believe are of Vincent, his wife, and their children. I would love to get these to his children or extended family, if they would like to have them, but do not have any contact info for them. My cell number is: 561-340-9672.

To the family Of Vincent M. Curto.
I learned of his death Today (5/30/24) I am sorry for your loss. Vince (Aka,Vinnie) and I were shipmates aboard the USS Midway from 1957 to 1960. We were inseparable during that three year period and we formed a lasting friendship. A number of years passed until we reconnected in about 2005. At that time we would talk and recall old times we spent on ship and on shore with our shipmates. This last Memorial day another shipmate called and asked for Vinnie, this prompted my search only to hear of this news,I am truly sorry to her of his passing,
