Virginia Comellas Gonzalez

April 05, 1956~August 12, 2024

Virginia Comellas Gonzalez, 68, of San Antonio and New Port Richey, Florida passed away on August 12, 2024.

Virginia (aka Jeannie) was born in Tampa, Florida at Gonzalez Clinic on April 5, 1956 as a twin to Adeline and Robert Comellas, her twin sister Sara did not survive. Virginia was raised in Ybor City, after graduation she met and married her previous husband of 40 years, George Hernandez. During that marriage she gave birth to her loving daughter, Erica Hernandez and was a step mother to Yvette.

Virginia loved taking care of her family and friends and always sacrificed her needs for the good of her loved ones. She had a quiet strength, was a selfless woman who took care of everyone and loved to do so. As a homemaker, she was strong, capable and tireless and was always striving to make everything better. Among her many talents, Virginia enjoyed making and building things. She helped build her home, as well as helped build her daughter’s home. She also enjoyed collecting antiques, making dolls and jewelry. Virginia’s faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior was of the utmost importance to her. She was baptized and followed the word of God her entire life. She shared that faith with all of us and we can all be comforted knowing that she is walking in heaven with Jesus and all of her loved ones who passed before her. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 91, which gave her comfort in the end, during her month-long battle with Covid Pneumonia. She succumbed to the illness after a strong fight.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Adeline and Robert Comellas, her twin Sara, sister Iva and uncle Jerry and brother Robert. She is also preceded in death by Rita and George Hernandez (in laws), in which she cared for for over 35 years. Virginia was a newlywed, celebrating her new life with Carlos Gonzalez when she became ill. She is survived by her loving husband Carlos, daughter Erica Hernandez and her fiancée Bubba Clem, Step daughter Yvettte Farias (Ricardo), Grandson Vicente Fernandez, step grandsons Ricky and Javier Farias, Step son Carlos Emilio and step grandson Leon. She is also survived by her sisters Theresa Valenti and Rose Daniel, Brothers Joe Marsicano and Christopher Comellas. Nieces; Terry and Chalet, Nephews; Jerry, Nelson and Johnny and cousin Diana.

Virginia is in the care of Dobies Funeral home and she will rest at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery Dade City, along with being with loving family members. A celebration of life is scheduled for October 19, 2024.

“She’s in the sun, the wind, the rain, she’s in the air you breathe with every breath you take. She sings a song of hope and cheer, there’s no more pain, no more fear. You’ll see her in the clouds above, hear her whisper words of love, you’ll be together before long, until then listen for her song” 💐

I meet your mom a couple of times, but that was enough to know what a wonderful person she was, that and knowing the great person she raised to be my friend. I’m sure she will be deeply missed, but she will live forever in your heart.

Nothing we can say will take away the pain you’re experiencing. Just want you to know that we care about you, and I share in your sadness. We’re here for you!!!

Love

Erica our thoughts and prayers are with you and your entire family… We were blessed to have Jeannie and you’re entire family as our neighbors for the past 30 years. She was strong and steady always there for her family. She loved you all fiercely and would always brag to me each and every time we had our talks she would light up when it was about you and her grandson Vincent boy did she rave about him she loved each and everyone of you deeply as well as her friends and neighbors. She was strong in her Christian belief with that being said …She wasn’t the type to take her kindness for weakness. She was a Spitfire I love that about her… and funny to no end you could always count on her to put a smile on your face and I love that about her as well. We are so sorry for your great loss …With that being said…keep on shining because one day we will all link together again in heaven 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
May God Bless you and your family in this time of grief. Love you sis ❤️

Jeannie was a beautiful person who had so much laughter and energy in her soul. I was so grateful for the joy she gave to my father. I am eternally thankful to have known her in some small way. Her smile will live in my heart forever ❤️

Wayne & I grew up as part of the Comellas family, my dad Rolando & mom Marie took us as children to our Abuela’s house many weekends. Abuela‘s house was the meeting place where her sons & daughters got together and brought their families to visit on Saturday or Sunday. I have great memories of us cousins together, Jeanie included. What a beautiful write up in the obituary of the person she had become. As much as her passing is such an indescribable loss to her husband and her beautiful family, we as believers in Christ have a promise that we will meet again and never be separated… until then, your memories, our memories will hold Jeannie close to our hearts!
