Walter Jay Weiss died on Monday, May 25th. Walter was born on June 14, 1930 in Binghamton, New York to Raymond and Lillian Weiss. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Les, and sisters Doris and Janet. Walter ‘s occupations over the years included working for A L George distributors in New York, followed by carpentry, and in most recent years, a handyman. He loved tinkering and had a large collection of tools. But his passion was as a minister sharing the word of God. Walter studied the Bible his entire life, and loved helping others live a Christian life. He spent twenty-seven years ministering to those in nursing homes. Walter enjoyed playing the guitar and singing gospel music. Walter was known as a jokester, and loved making people laugh. He played basketball when he was younger and loved sharing with the family that his nickname was “Crapshot Weiss.†In his later years, Walter was a Tampa Bay Rays fan and liked watching them on TV. Walter also loved snacks and candies, especially See’s Candies. He always had a stash of snacks next to him while watching TV. Walter was a humble man who lived simply, enjoying his family, and church family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Jan, and his four children, Linda (Peter), Doug (Deb), David (Lisa) and Dale (Jeannette). He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Pasco-Hernando Hospice organization. Walter was loved by many and will be missed.
