Barbara C. Smythe (nÃ©e King) passed away unexpectedly on January 31, 2019 in New Port Richey, FL at the age of 85.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Raymond S. Smythe; children, Gail Wilson (Dan), Raymond Smythe, B. Lynn Karas (James), Robert Smythe (Laurie); siblings, John King (Gail), Mary Cox, Michael King (Rosemary), Victoria Passikoff (James), Catherine DesFosse, Thomas King (Michelle), sister in-law Irene King; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nephews and nieces; and so many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Victoria King, and her brothers Charles King and James King.
Born in Trenton, NJ, the second of nine children, Barbara resided in Ewing Township for most of her life until retiring to Florida with her husband, Raymond.
Barbara graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton. She worked at Educational Testing Services in Princeton, NJ before a long, successful career as the Office Manager at Melcor in Lawrenceville, NJ.
Barbara was a member of Incarnation RC Church, the Prospect Heights Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and the Red Hat Society.
She had many interests and talents to keep her busy. Besides enjoying traveling with her husband, Barbara was an author and published three novels. She also took up painting and playing Mahjong with her friends. Mostly, Barbara loved being with family.
A funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 5340 High St, New Port Richey, FL 34652. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church and The American Cancer Society.
Barbara will be buried in Ewing, NJ in the Springtime. A memorial and graveside service will be held at that time.
