Betty Burger

November 09, 1929~May 16, 2019

All of Heaven rejoiced when Mrs. Betty June Burger, of New Port Richey, was ushered into the gates of Heaven on May 16th 2019 @ 5:50am. She was born November 9th, 1929 to Leslie Owen and Ruby June Hawkins. Her husband, William Roscoe Burger, was in heaven to greet her. She passed on what would have been their 71st wedding anniversary. In her earlier years, she and her family were very active in Lester Sumrall’s ministry. She retired (twice) from GTE phone company (now Verizon), and before that she and her husband were entrepreneurs owning several businesses. She will be most remembered for unwavering faith in God and for being a mighty prayer warrior for those in need. She always gave priceless Godly advice and never compromised her faith. It should be noted that she was the best alto this side of her birthplace Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, both her in-laws Eddra Tomer and Roscoe Burger, her son Gary Burger, and sister-in-law Barbara Darlene Strickland. She is survived by her sister Nancy (Orton) Mills, her brother Charles (Bonnie) Hawkins, her son William (Jan) Burger and her daughter Sandy Stecher. She leaves her legacy of faith and love with her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and countless others she has touched with her prayers, faith, love and kindness. Her Celebration of Life/Homegoing Celebration will be Wednesday, May 22nd 2019 at 6 pm at her home church, West Coast Word Church located at 425 E Spruce St., Tarpon Springs, FL 34689.
