Alfred W. Robertson Jr.

September 09, 1939~September 29, 2020

Alfred W. Robertson, Jr, 81, Passed away September 29, 2020 in New Port Richey, FL. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wilma (née Farmer), children Melissa (George), Patrick (Merry), Drema (Jay), Alyssa (Johnie) and Alfred III “Robbie” (Lindsey); grandchildren John, Dakota, Christopher “Buddy,” Austin, Aaron, Dakota, Blaze, Reed and Raegen; great-grandchildren Isabella, Kinsley, Colton and Carson (on the way); sisters Blanche “Toots” and Ginger, brother Michael “Rocky” and beloved dog, Scar. He was preceded in death by parents Alfred Sr. and Isabelle (née Moore), sister Annie and brother James “Jimmy.”

Known as Junior, he was born in Fairfax County, Va. on September 9, 1939. He grew up in Stafford County, Va. playing sports and spending time on the Aquia River. He spent summers cutting kudzu vine and used the money to buy his first Speedliner boat. Junior moved to Florida with his family around 1968, and he worked for Pasco County Schools Maintenance Department for many years.

A loving father and proud grandfather, he adored his family. He was also passionate about baseball and softball, specifically coaching youth in the community. He coached Little League Baseball and West Pasco Girls’ Softball and will be remembered as a tough but inspirational coach who made an impact on the lives of many athletes, including his own kids. Other hobbies included driving hydroplane boats, raising chickens, cats and dogs, especially Beagles, and being outdoors. A 60-degree evening was cool enough for him to start a fire and sit for hours. He loved Bluegrass – Flatt & Scruggs was a favorite – and Elvis, and he cherished listening on his record player. Junior was a proud Freemason and a strong proponent of the Second Amendment.

A believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he was proud to share that faith with his family. He loved to pray over family gatherings and holiday dinners – as long as you didn’t forget to take off your hat at the table.

A private family service will be held at a later date. If you would like to send condolences, please consider a live plant, which Junior would have loved, or a donation to Shriner’s Hospital for Children.

We were so very sorry to hear of Jr's passing. He was always someone that both Dawna and myself always looked up to. I always enjoyed being around him at work, running beagles, or even when he Coached me in Little League. Rest in Peace Coach.
