Angela Walton

September 27, 1942~May 07, 2026

Angela Walton, 83, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at her home.

Born September 27, 1942 in Passaic, NJ, Angela grew up in Lodi, NJ.  She lived in Fair Lawn, NJ, and Portland, PA, for many years. During her time in Portland, she became a “snowbird,” spending winters in Panama City, FL. She later moved full-time to Alford, FL, before finally settling in New Port Richey, FL. Angela graduated from Lodi High School and continued her education at Eastern School of Technology in New York City, where she earned certifications as a phlebotomist and EKG technician.

Angela met the love of her life, her beloved husband, James Walton, at McDonald’s, where he held the door open for her and then bravely walked up to her in her in her brand new Cadillac, where he obtained her phone number which she wrote on a matchbook. A few months later, James returned home from the Marine Corp and they went out on their first date. They married in 1962 — and the rest, as they say, is history. The newlyweds began their life together at the Quantico Marine Base in Virginia, starting what would become a devoted and loving marriage of 64 years.

Angela worked as a laboratory technician and EKG technician at Hackensack Hospital and later at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ. In 1978, she and her husband purchased Shady Acres Campground in Portland, PA, which they proudly owned and operated for 20 years, creating lasting friendships and memories for countless families. During that time, she also worked at Cherry Valley Golf Course in the Delaware Water Gap, PA, where she eventually organized and ran golf leagues. Angela also generously volunteered her time at Pocono Hospital in Stroudsburg, PA, for many years.

In her earlier years, Angela enjoyed bowling and later discovered a passion for golf while keeping up with her husband on the course. Known for her incredible work ethic, Angela’s greatest priority was always her family. She loved driving classic Mustangs — earning her the nickname “Mustang Angie.” A proud Sicilian girl from North Jersey, Angela’s life journey carried her from city living to the countryside of the Poconos, where she thrived running a campground and building a life centered on love, hard work, and family. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and an especially proud and adoring grandmother.  She will be dearly missed.

Daughter of the late Guy and Betty (Sedita) Santangelo, Angela is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, James Lincoln Walton, her three sons James Walton and his wife Lisa, John Walton and his wife Robyn, and Guy Walton, her sister Catherine Santangelo, her seven grandchildren Gianna Walton and her husband Reuben, Lincoln Walton and his wife Allison, Mia Walton, Rebecca Hunsicker and her husband Garrett, Jack Grim and his wife Kelsy, William Walton, and Ryan Walton, her three great-grandchildren Arlo, Julien, and Maxwell, and her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.  In addition to her parents, Angela was predeceased by her brother Charles Santangelo.

The family will receive relatives and friends for a visitation on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 AM at the Dobies Funeral Home, 9944 Hudson Ave., Hudson, FL.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 8014 State Road 52, Hudson, FL.  Interment will follow at the Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL.  There will also be a Celebration of Angela’s Life at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home in Milford, NJ, to be announced at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Angela’s memory to Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
