Carna Schroder

November 22, 1937~May 14, 2018

Carna Rae Schroder, formerly of Des Plaines,IL, most recently (1972-present) of New Port Richey, FL left these earthly bounds surrounded by her family on Monday, May 14th, 2018, and went to glory to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ingaborg and Lloyd Ball, her sister, Sandra Von Busch and a grandchild, Tara D Pearman. She is survived by her brother, John (Faith) Ball, her three sons, Paul (Lynn) Schroder, Daniel (Rachel) Schroder and Peter ( Penny) Schroder and her daughter Cathy Pearman, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at and taught nursing at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL.

She was very active all forms of youth ministry in her church including the bus ministry, youth puppet ministry, choir, children’s musicals and anywhere else she could serve children.

She was a lifelong Cubs fan by day and Braves fan by night (before Wrigley Field had lights) and loved all forms of sports and competition.

She loved to spend time in the water, whether the beach or pool, and time with her grandchildren.

Christmas was her favorite season of the year and it often started before Halloween. All of her children have a Christmas music playlist permanently etched into their brain.

She loved music and played the violin and acoustic bass. She sang in a group that raised funds and awareness for orphaned children but she especially liked gospel music and she was comforted by listening to her favorite songs as she was slipping the bonds of this earthly body.

She was patriotic to the core and loved our country dearly. Patriotic music was a favorite of hers.

Her Mother, Ing, often said that she was looking forward to going home to glory and meeting her Savior, and Carna, too, used the same expression. She was looking forward to meeting her creator and Savior, Jesus Christ, face-to-face. We, here family, are comforted in knowing that that is exactly what she is doing now and forevermore.
