Caroline M Humes
Sunday January 17th, Caroline passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family. What a legacy this woman left behind! She raised three fearless, beautiful daughters. She helped raise 15 grandchildren and was a great-grandmother. She was the matriarch of our large, but close-knit family. Some of the grandchildren’s favorite memories were made with this amazing woman, just lying in her hammock, or climbing the giant magnolia tree in her front yard with their cousins. She was a woman with many talents. She could tell you the name of any flower or plant she came across, and she was an amazing, self-taught seamstress.
She made prom dresses, Halloween costumes, wedding dresses, wedding cakes, wedding bouquets and bridesmaids dresses for her children and grandchildren. There was nothing she couldn't do. If you’d compliment her latest craft project, she'd reply, “I only do nice work”, not with a sense of arrogance, but with confidence and pride. She loved to receive letters and she could also make or draw anything she could see. She never missed a birthday. Faithfully, year after year, every child, grandchild and great-grandchild received their birthday card in the mail.
She read the Bible from cover to cover more times than we can count. She was a God-fearing woman who always chose her battles wisely but would not hesitate to tell you if you didn't act right. As she got older, when you stepped out of line, you might get a lecture about what Jesus Christ was expecting from you. She was old school; a submissive and obedient wife, but Dad was still no match for Caroline, because we all knew who was really in charge when it was all said and done. She loved fiercely, but with the gentlest heart. This woman was the epitome of love, sacrifice, and strength. We will all miss her so, so much! Please cover my family in prayer as we prepare to lay to rest her She's in the arms of her Father now. She always said she didn't fear death because she knew where she would spend eternity. She would tell us, “If it's my time to go, it's my time to go!”, confident of her place behind the pearly gates. It gives me peace to know that only those of us left behind are hurting, because you are at peace.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Humes & Miley Family. Carol was such a special lady who loved her family dearly. Even when she was not feeling so well she would never miss a birthday party or special event. Very kind, independent and strong willed. She was an inspiration to all. She will be very missed. The memory of her will forever be in the hearts of all that knew her. My sincere condolences 💐
