Claire J. Johnson was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on July 31, 1933 and died from a long term illness in New Port Richey, FL on April 21, 2020. Claire was the only child to Lucy and John Venturi. She married Edward Johnson on February 2, 1957 and lived in Queens, NY before moving to Brentwood, Long Island. Claire worked for many years as a senior stenographer for Suffolk County Consumer Affairs. Upon retirement, she and Ed enjoyed many happy years in Florida, first in Longwood and later in New Port Richey. During this time she enjoyed friends, travel, and interior design, but her greatest passions were her family and church.
Claire was preceded in death by her husband, Edward. She is survived by her son, Glenn (Eileen) Johnson, daughter and loving friend and caregiver, Barbara Johnson, her grandsons, Gregory (Nicole) Johnson, and Matthew (Julia) Johnson, and the latest addition to the family, her great-grandson, Henry Johnson.
Calling hours (practicing social distancing) will be held at Dobies Funeral Home, 8825 Old CR 54, New Port Richey, FL from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Saturday, April 25, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held privately for the immediate family.
