David Joseph Striley, 89, died peacefully at home, August 30, 2025, at his home in New Port Richey, FL, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease. He was a resident of Fairfield, OH, for many years.
Born on August 21, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, David graduated from Purcell High School and the University of Cincinnati. He began his professional journey as a chemical engineer at NCR in Dayton before later joining Champion Paper Company, where he dedicated many years and retired as Manager of Environmental Compliance in the Pulp and Paper Division.
David (Dave) is survived by his wife, Diane Pogue Striley; daughter Donna Thorson (Larry Skinner) of Las Vegas, NV; sons John Striley of Chattanooga, TN; Paul Striley (Tracey) of West Chester, OH; Peter Striley of West Carrollton, OH; and stepdaughter Anna Devers of San Diego, CA. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and step-grandchildren, numerous nieces and a nephews; brothers Charley ( Mt.Washington), Mike (Karen) Crofton, MD, and Steve Striley (Cincinnati); and sister Karen Neff (Cincinnati).
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Frances Shomberg Striley; sisters Marian Limburg (Donald) and Yvonne Ruttle (Patrick); and wives Melody Sholz Cauley and Artie Haight Ray.
An accomplished horseman, David (“Unky Dave”) was a founding member of the Miami Valley Hunt. In retirement, he embraced woodturning with great enthusiasm and skill.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 26th at 2pm at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection (1555 Windmill Pointe Rd; Palm Harbor, FL).
