January 19, 1929~April 26, 2020

Our hearts are broken as we lost our beautiful Dean on Aug 26th who went to heaven during sleep. Dean is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy; Daughters Carter, Jane and beloved Sarah; Sons Brad and Ted – Grandchildren Brittany, Katie and Ali; Great Grandchildren Elliot and Mercy ; Sister-n-Law, Carter; many nieces and nephews. He had a large network of friends from Pittsburgh, PA, Buffalo Grove, IL, and Hudson, FL who laughed often. He was a bugler in the army during the Korean War and a graduate of Gettysburg College. A lover of music, his garden, and photography while having a wonderful sense of humor and curiosity when engaging with people. Dean was an early technology adaptor, left the Pharmaceutical industry to join a burgeoning area, Computers in the 1970's and was the top Sales Executive for Datapoint – a start up in the Mini Computer era. Dean liked listening to his loved ones, laughing, telling stories and was famous for performing his Sam Spade routine, also reenacting scenes and songs from the many musicals he performed in. We will miss Dean terribly but Heaven gains another singer for the angel’s choir. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: feedingamerica.org

Dear Mrs. Dubbs. What an amazing life you both had together. Just reading the memorial indicates what an amazing legacy you and Dean are both leaving on this world.

My prayer for you is that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will encamp his angels around you to provide protection and support. I also pray a supernatural filling of the Holy Spirit to fill the void in your heart for Dean. Nothing but God's Love will do that.

I pray that you will take time to mourn but also remember to celebrate a wonderful and blessed life you shared together.

Blessings,
Jeff

My sincerest condolences to the entire Dubbs family on the passing of Mr. Dubbs (no matter how old I get, I just can't call my friends parents by their first names). Seeing pictures of Mr. Dubbs truly shows the source of where Ted get's his good looks and appearance. Wishing that all of your great memories stay with you for all your days. With love and sincerest regards, Bill Filetti

My condolences and love go to Dorothy, Carter, Jane, Sarah, Brad, Ted, and the entire Dubbs family. I am a nephew of Ted on Cathy’s side of the family. I never met Dean personally, but I have experienced his influence through his son Ted. My uncle Ted has been an incredibly positive impact on my personal life and professional career – from lawn games and video games growing up to internships and business advice. Ted is a patient, giving, and influential individual with a heart of gold. Dean and Dorothy can be proud of the mark they have made on this earth – I know that through Ted, Dean has impacted me and his legacy will continue to ripple through all my interactions with others.

Dottie – you and Dean were so much fun. I am sad for you at the lost of your very best friend. Hope to see you and Jane on my next trip to Florida. All my love – Jan Killmeyer DeMartini

We go back to all of our Buffalo Grove days as we met a great couple called the Dubbs. Watching their children grow up along with ours, playing bridge in the famous Chicago Bridge club, neighborhood parties, and more. Our continued connection as we stopped each year in Hudson, Fl. With laughs and reflections of years gone by as we headed to Siesta Key. We will always reflect on the great days spent with Dean. What a great inspiration he gave all of us each day we were with him. He will be missed but always remembered.

Dear Mrs. Dubbs, Ted, Jane, Carter and Brad,

I've been struggling to come up with the words to let you all know how much your Dad meant to me. While I lost my Dad many years ago, he always made me feel like I had a home away from home whenever I needed it. He offered me counsel when I most needed it. I will always remember the fun times I got a chance to be included in with your entire family. From playing board games together, turning the stereo up too loud while listening to favorite songs (and being told to turn it down) or getting into occasional trouble together, I always felt welcome.

I pray you all find peace in this difficult time. Your Dad was one of a kind.

Love, Jim
