Rest in the arms of Jesus, Denis. We spent a lifetime together and goodbyes are never easy. Surely, our beloved son, Michael, was there to meet you when you transitioned. He got there first. You guys were close; he called you every day.
With love, Helena Kenny

My brother Denis grew up in a tense household. We were 18 months apart. He was often scolded and ran away several times. When he grew up, he chose to live his life “My Way”. He eventually met a beautiful and loving woman who pierced his heart. He cherished his sons and grandchildren. Denis was a superb athlete with a strong mind and a kind heart.
Now he is with the angels as God surrounds him with His eternal love.
With love from me and my wife Lynne,
Bill Kenny

Denis was, along with my brother Bill, one of my “older” older brothers (the other being Tom who was only 11 months older than me so he didn’t count as an older brother as I saw it). Denis was 6 &1/2 years older than me and it was not until I was about 15 or 16, when I really started getting to know our Brooklyn neighborhood, that I began learning what a Big Man reputation Denis had in our sector of Brooklyn (called Bay Ridge). He was considered one of, and maybe the, toughest guys in the neighborhood and also was known as a really good athlete. I really didn’t know those aspects of Denis Kenny first hand. What I did know about Denis was what a good friend and mentor he could be. He always had time to talk with me, give me advice when I asked for it, protect me from some locals when I needed it, and help me in many other ways. In short he was a great guy and a great older brother. Our world was a better place while he was with us and I will miss him very much. Jerry

Denis, my brother: he was a truly special individual—never taken for granted at any stage of his life. Through it all, he was always my brother, always a Kenny, always a person on whom I could rely. Our family becomes smaller, and Denis leaves a great hole. I shall mourn him, I shall often think of him – with short flashes in which he is still with me.
