Dr. George Bobotas, beloved husband, father and papou, passed away on June 28, 2022. He was 74 years old.  

George was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 26, 1947 to parents Alkiviadis and Demetra Bobotas. He married Maria Zagaris Bobotas New York City.   

George received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the City University of New York. He is the inventor of 24 pharmaceutical patents and patent applications.  

George was President and Managing Partner of DeMelleBioPharma since 2008. He was employed at Reliant Pharmaceuticals for eight years in the position of Vice President, Scientific Affairs. Prior to Reliant, he was the founder and Executive Director of the Covance Center for CNS Research. Earlier in his career, George held senior positions at Mylan Laboratories, Somerset Pharmaceuticals and Forest Laboratories.  

George served as City Commisioner of Tarpon Springs for 3 terms and was involved in many clubs and local organizations. 

George loved music, photography, traveling, jewelry making, cooking, eating Greek desserts, and spending time with his friends, and most of all, his family. 

George is survived by his wife, Maria Bobotas,  and daughters Demetra (Jason) Dukas and Eleni (Emmanuel) Lelekis. He was papou to his 4 grandchildren, Alexander Dukas, Olivia Dukas, Yianni Lelekis and Maria Lelekis.

My condolences to all the family. I knew and worked with George when he was at Mylan many years ago. He was a fine and wonderful, compassionate and brilliant man. I am so sorry for your loss.
