March 01, 1941~June 10, 2020

Eileen Fay Spitzig “Red”, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to many, passed away peacefully surrounded by her three daughters at home on June 10, 2020, at the age of 79, after a five-year battle with cancer.
Eileen was born March 1, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY. She resided in Long Island, NY until moving to Plantation, FL in 1970. She moved to the Tampa Bay Area in 1985.
She owned and operated Eileen’s New & Used Furniture store in Hudson, FL for over 35 years. She took pride in her service to her customers, many of whom came to regard her as a trusted friend and mother figure. These friends would spend endless hours catching up with each other’s lives. Winter residents would always stop by just to say hello and check out her new inventory.
Many people knew Eileen as a woman that loved to laugh, uncontrollable laughs, and pee in your pants laughs for no apparent reason. Her laugh was contagious. In addition to her joyfulness, many knew Eileen as a woman with strength, and determination. She had much to give and was a fighter to the very end.
Eileen is preceded in death by her parents Sydney and Pauline Liss, former husband Warren Jules Goodman (father of her children), widowed to Lawrence Spitzig, and loving soulmate Nicholas Furillo. Eileen is survived by her three adoring and devoted daughters, Randi Goodman-Besece, Stacey Simpson and Jacki Goodman-Jiorle, her brother-in-law Richard Goodman, her fun loving son-in-laws, Steve Besece and Tony Simpson, her beautiful grandchildren, Samantha Bartoshesky (husband Jeff), Alexander Toma, Austin Simpson, Zackary Besece, Allison Simpson, Abrielle Simpson, her great grandson Vinny Viscomi, her nephew Robert Goodman and her precious fur baby Mona. Eileen lived each and every day for her family.
Saturday, June 20th, a Memorial Service will be held from 1 – 2pm at Dobies Funeral Home, 9944 Hudson Avenue, Hudson, FL 34669, followed by a Celebration of Life at Eileen’s residence in Spring Hill (Address will be furnished at the Memorial Service). In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to HPH Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, FL 34667 or www.chaptershealth.org.
