Fay G. Groves of New Port Richey, FL passed away August 12, 2026, with her three daughters by her side.  

Fay was born December 18, 1933, in Elizabeth, NJ to David and Martha Schwartzbach; the youngest of three children.  Being just a bus ride from New York City, her father would often take her to see the shows. Fay fell in love with the city that never sleeps and her heart throb, Frank Sinatra. She regularly referred to and kept in touch with many lifelong friends made from her hometown.

Fay married her high school sweetheart, William Fredrick Groves (Fred) and moved to England where he was stationed.  While there, she was able to see Europe and fell in love with Holland, and its fields of tulips. Upon returning to the states they settled in Philadelphia where she worked in a local shoe store. Fred acquired employment with Esso and they relocated to Erie, PA and welcomed their children Gail and Patricia (Patty).  In 1966, they relocated to Indiana, PA and welcomed their third daughter, Jacqueline (Jackie).  During her almost 30 years in Indiana, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Zion Lutheran Church and then in sales at Sears. Socially, she enjoyed bridge, live entertainment and traveling with friends   Again, she made friendships that lasted throughout her lifetime.

Searching for a lifestyle without snow and ice, and with encouragement of her sister-in-law, she decided to move to Florida where her love of beaches could be enjoyed.  She transferred with Sears where she worked until she retired at 75.  Fay was always able to find friends no matter where she lived; by joining a bridge club, connecting with her colleagues from work, playing dominos or through volunteering.  She volunteered at the performing arts center which allowed her to feed her passion for music and the arts, and later in life, at the Good Samaritan Health Clinic.  Fay also had a passion for knowledge and was an avid reader of history and biographies.

Fay adored her daughters and there was nothing she would not do for them. Of all of Fay’s favorite things, her greatest love was for her family.  Everyone coming together brought her the greatest joy of all. She loved decorating,  hosting holidays and every opportunity to see her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cherished friends. She always wore a smile on her face and will be deeply missed by many.

Fay was predeceased by her parents, Martha and David, her brothers, Norman and Irving, her sister-in-law, Elaine and her beloved son, Thomas. 

She is survived by her daughters, Gail, Patricia, and Jacqueline along with her grandchildren Jessica, Amanda, Melissa, Christopher and Rachael and 6 great grandchildren Gabrielle, Alice, Jason, Sevyn, Rori and Camilla, with two more on the way.

She will be interred at Trinity Memorial Gardens on September 11, 2026, at 3:00pm.  Flowers are appreciated or donations can be made to The Good Samaritan Health Clinic.
