Clark, Gerald W. (Jerry), passed away February 26, 2018 at the age of 91. Gerald and Doris Card Clark were married March 19,1949 in the Hurlburt Memorial Church in Chautauqua, New York after he served in the US Army in WWII in Guam, Saipan and Iwo Jima.

Gerald (Jerry) was the current Commander of American Legion Post 173, Holiday, Florida and previously served seven other terms as Commander. He held various committees throughout the years including serving on the Veteran's Affairs National Committee for ten years. Before moving to Florida in 1973, Gerald served as Commander of the VFW Post 8647, Mayville, New York and was a charter member. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and a carpenter by trade.

Gerald (Jerry) is survived by his wife, Doris, of Holiday, Florida; son, Philip (Marianne) Clark of Washinton, Massachusetts; granddaughter, Rev. Linnea Clark of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; daughter, Marlene (Jerry) Ungerleider of Holiday, Florida; two grandsons, Eric Clark and Corey Ungerleider along with three great grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley and Kayla Clark. He is also survived by a second daughter, Virginia (Timothy) Leason of Chandler, Arizona; three grandsons, Adam, Joseph and Ryan Leason; and four great grandchildren, Blake, Autumn, Adaline and Skylar Leason; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Walter C. and Naomi Clark; and younger brother, Paul Clark.

Visitation to be held on Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 1 to 3 PM with Military Services at 3PM at Dobies Funeral Home, Holiday Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jerry Clark to Paws for Patriots, Southeastern Guide Dogs for Veterans, Attn: Caellan Curtis, 4210 77th Street East, Palmetto, FL 34221

My sincere condolence to the Clark family. Your in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. I was thinking about Mr. Clark's years of service and dedication and thought about the song, Go Rest High on the Mountain son your work on earth is done. That it is however may his memories and work of the American Legion family and programs never be forgotten. Rest in Peace and Thank you Sir for your many years of service.
